25 Things to do in Punta Gorda this Holiday Season – Part 1
There are always numerous community events in Punta Gorda throughout the year and the holidays are no exception. There are a variety of different events to enjoy this holiday season from markets to parades. We have selected 25 that we think will bring festive cheer to your holidays in Punta Gorda this year.
1. Festival of Lights at Fisherman’s Village
The Festival of Lights at Fisherman’s Village kicked off on November 20th and includes more than one million lights and decorations. Through December 31st you can take a stroll through Fishermen’s Village to view all of the sparkling lights and decorations, sure to make for a fantastic evening in Punta Gorda.
2. Lighted Christmas Golf Cart Parade
On November 27th at Fishermen’s Village from 6 to 7 p.m. Punta Gorda residents will show off their festively decorated golf carts in a Lighted Christmas Golf Cart Parade. This event is free to attend and sure to get you in the holiday spirit.
3. King Fisher Lighted Canal Cruises
From December 3rd through the 31st, King Fisher Lighted Canal Cruises will be departing 3 times nightly from Fishermen’s Village in Punta Gorda. Take a one hour cruise through the canals of Punta Gorda to view the elaborately decorated homes of many Punta Gorda residents and enjoy the sparkling lights over the water.
4. Christmas at the History Park
From December 3rd through the 11th, the Punta Gorda Historical Society will be hosting a “Winter Wonderland” at History Park on Shreve St. During this nine day event from 5 to 9 p.m., the park and buildings including the Price, Cigar and Trabue houses will be transformed into a “Winter Wonderland” with crystal and silver on nearly every surface. The cost to attend is only $10 for adults and free for children under ten.
5. Holly Days – Lighting of the Punta Gorda Christmas Tree
On December 3rd from 6 to 8 p.m. join the Punta Gorda Chamber, Downtown Merchants’ Association and the City of Punta Gorda in the celebration of the lighting of the Punta Gorda Christmas tree. Many merchants will be open for shopping and offering their own festive entertainment. The first tree lighting takes place at 6:15 p.m. on the corner of Marion and Taylor, followed by a second tree lighting on the corner of Olympia and Taylor at 7:30 p.m. You might just get to see it snow in Punta Gorda, Florida.
